I had my big ultrasound today!

I was so psyched to see what the sex of the baby was, that I was telling everyone the date I'd find out. Well, the baby did not spread 'em!!!! We have no idea. I don't know if I can take the suspense. I thought that being 16 weeks would be a little early for my big ultrasound but that's what the doctors had me do. I have no idea when I'm going to get another ultrasound. Do they do another ultrasound usually? I know I needed ultrasounds with my daughter but I had high blood pressure and so they checked her alot. At least the baby looked good and healthy .
I guess we'll just have to buy gender neutral clothing. How do those of you who choose not to know the sex of the baby handle buying things and the suspense of not knowing? This is going to drive me insane. I hardly even see baby clothes that will work for either a boy or a girl. And we were going to do the baby's room in cars if it was a boy and tinkerbell if it was a girl. Now I guess we either wait longer to start doing stuff or pick a different theme. Sorry, I'm going off a little bit.

Here is a picture: It's a profile shot of the baby's face.

From what I've heard, you usually only get one ultrasound in a "normal" pregnancy.

If they hadn't been able to determine gender at mine, I would have sprung for one of those 3D/4D packages.  They have some packages where I live for as low as like 50 bucks if all you want to know is gender.

I've heard about those but where do you get them at? I had my ultrasound done at the hospital and they didn't have 3D/4D machines.

What a bummer, I know the feeling as it happened to me with my last baby.  I had an OB appt. a few days afterwards and the doctor actually got me a sneak peek ultrasound.  And then we found out it was a girl.  I don't know if your ob's do that, but can't hurt in asking.

I hope will will get a second chance look!

I'm thinking maybe it was just too early too. It seems that 16 weeks is pretty early for the big ultrasound, maybe in a few weeks at my appointment, I'll ask and see if they'll check on it for me. I just gotta know!!!

16 weeks seems early for the big ultrasound.  Hopefully you will get another around 20 weeks!   I would call your OB and find out their schedule for routine utlrasounds.

I go in next tuesday, so I'll ask then. I thought it was pretty early too, but of course I still got all excited.

WOW! I guess if there are perks to being high risk, having multiple ultrasounds would certainly be one of them! I had my first ultrasound, be it a vaginal one at 8 weeks. Then another vaginal at 12. From then on I have the big machine (belly) ultrasounds, including the 3D, every 4 weeks throughout my entire pregnancy. We found out at 14 weeks with my second son, and 12 weeks with my 3rd son. Early, but my ultrasound tech is AMAZING, like best of the best from what I'm told!

Now my first pregnancy, they didn't know I was high risk, and I didn't have an ultrasound between 12 and 20 weeks, until they discovered my son's birth defect at 24 weeks and then started scanning me every 4 weeks from that point on.

I sure hope you get another one, I'd be dying just like you are to find out!!! If your insurance doesn't cover another one, I'd certainly look into paying for one, I'm all about shopping, decorating, and planning based on gender
